* AUTOMOBILE: Ford India's total sales in September were down 26.8% at 16,525 units from 22,590 units a year ago. Energy Efficiency Services has offered to give 40% of the order for 10,000 e-vehicles to MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA provided it matches the TATA MOTORS' bid.

* AVIATION: The aviation ministry has asked domestic airlines to submit proof of Dubai airport's
commitment of more slots to them before agreeing to increase the number of flights between India and the Emirate.

* BANKING: All small savings schemes holders have to link their accounts with their respective Aadhaar numbers by Dec 31.

* CORPORATE: Vijay Mallya was arrested in London and released shortly on bail in a money laundering case.

* OIL AND GAS: The government has cut basic excise duty on petrol and diesel by 2 rupees per ltr with effect from midnight. The move will lead to revenue loss of around 130 bln rupees in 2017-18, the government said.

* RETAIL: The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion has approved five foreign direct
investment proposals for single-brand retail trading.

* TELECOMMUNICATION: Nokia is collaborating with telecommunication companies including BHARTI AIRTEL and Bharat Sanchar Nigam to prepare a roadmap for the development of 5G network in India.
