The Indian equities extended rally in the late morning deal on Thursday, undermining weak cues from global peers, as strong gain in index heavyweights such as SBI, ITC, Coal India, Tata Motors and HDFC, gave a lift to market sentiment. Outperforming the benchmark indices, the broader markets were trading on robust note, with the BSE MIDCAP and SMLCAP indices rising as much as 0.54 per cent 0.80 per cent respectively.

At 12:15 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 31398.89, up by 153.33 points or by 0.49 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 9675.8, up by 38.2 points or by 0.4 per cent.

In the choppy trade so-far, Sensex touched intraday high of 31428.03 and intraday low of 31264.86, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9682.85 and intraday low of 9639.95.

OM Metals Infraprojects gained as much as 14 per cent after the company said that it has sold its cineplex division, Om Cineplex Commercial Complex, for Rs 18 crore.

Bajaj Auto fell nearly 2 per cent after stocks turned ex-dividend today. Ex-dividend date is the date on or after which a share is traded without a previously declared dividend.

Tata Motors rose over 1 per cent after the company reduced prices of its passenger vehicles by up to Rs 2.17 lakh, making available the GST benefit to its customers.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 281.65,+2.42%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 336.50,+1.65%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 251.00,+1.41%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 436.95,+1.13%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1646.55,+1.05%), among others.

On the flip side, Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2730.55,-1.49%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 160.70,-1.20%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 157.50,-0.82%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 510.80,-0.58%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1092.65,-0.42%), were among top losers on the BSE.

On the sectoral front, realty and PSU stocks were among top gainers, adding as much as 2.21 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE out of total shares traded 2626, shares advanced were 1631 while 874 shares declined and 121 were unchanged.
