The key domestic benchmark indices were trading in a negative terrain in the morning trading session after making a positive start on the bourses.

Earlier, a tepid US services data signaled underlying sluggishness in the world’s biggest economy, dimming speculation of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike in the near-term, bolstering risk taking appetite.

The markets may remain optimistic over Asia’s third biggest economy in the wake of recent manufacturing and services data which may continue to bolster sentiment at Dalal Street.

Further, a delayed Fed rate hike may also boost foreign fund inflows into emerging markets such as India.

At 10:20 AM, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was at 28964.26 down by 13.76 points or by 0.05 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8934.8 points, trading lower by 8.2 points or by 0.09 per cent.

On the global front, Asian stocks were trading mixed today as traders weighed weaker-than-expected US services data which raised speculation that the Fed may keep lower interest rates for longer. US stocks closed higher in the previous trading session on waning bets of a September Fed rate hike.
