Sensex, Nifty open higher on firm global cues; pharma and auto stocks support

Indian equities opened higher on Friday, led by buying across pharma and auto stocks, tracking firm cues from Asian peers. Overseas, the Asian stocks were trading higher, tracking a strong US session overnight, amid rising optimism that the US and China could avoid further escalations in a trade war. Shares of oil&gas stocks were down over 1 per cent after media report suggested that government is planning to offload stake in state-run oil marketing companies to meet disinvestment target.
At 9:28 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 35383.78, up by 123.24 points
