Snapping two day losing streak, Indian equities rebounded on Tuesday, tracking firm cues from Asian markets, even as investors remained wary ahead of the annual central banking conference later this week. However, weakness in the broader market capped day’s gain. On the sectoral front, oil&gas and PSU stocks emerged as top gainers on BSE, rising as much as 1.62 per cent and 0.73 per cent respectively. HCL Infosystems rallied over 17 per cent after the company said it will distribute Apple products, including the iconic iPhone, in the Indian market.

At 12:10 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 31352.91, up by 94.06 points or by 0.3 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 9796.3, up by 41.95 points or by 0.43 per cent.

In the day’s trade so far, the Sensex touched intraday high of 31484.28 and intraday low of 31241.5, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9828.45 and intraday low of 9752.6.

Fortis Healthcare continued losing streak on Tuesday and plunged over 12 per cent, hitting 52-week low, on the Bombay Stock Exchange amid surge in the volume trade. The stocks were under pressure after the company announced last week that its promoter, Fortis Healthcare Holdings Private Limited, sold 5.46 million (1.05%) equity shares through off-market.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 941.00,+1.97%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 1970.15,+1.91%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 292.95,+1.60%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 159.75,+1.40%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 500.80,+1.35%), among others.

On the flip side, Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3928.75,-0.98%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1128.35,-0.63%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 219.00,-0.45%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 619.40,-0.41%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 171.25,-0.35%), were among top losers on BSE.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2497, shares advanced were 982, while 1370 shares, declined and 145 were unchanged.
