Indian equities continued its losing streak on Monday, tracking bearish cues from Asian markets, weighed down by selling across IT and Teck stocks. Infosys continued losing streak on Monday and plunged over 4 per cent, hitting 52-week low, as some of rating agencies downgraded stock following chief executive officer Vishal Sikka’s shocking exit. The company on Saturday said that it would buy back shares worth up to Rs 13,000 crore from investors at Rs 1,150 per share.

At 12:20 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 31452.7, down by 71.98 points or by 0.23 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 9826.1, down by 11.3 points or by 0.11 per cent.

In the day’s trade so far, the Sensex touched intraday high of 31641.81 and intraday low of 31435.31, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9884.35 and intraday low of 9819.7.

VIP Industries surged over 11 per cent, hitting 52-week high, on the Bombay stock Exchange amid spurt in the volume trade.

Among others, of V-Mart Retail rallied over 19 per cent, hitting 52-week high, on the Bombay stock Exchange after the company reported a more than double net profit of Rs 22 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2017 compared to Rs 9.37 crore in year ago quarter.

Blue Star rose nearly 5 per cent after the company said it has won prestigious Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) orders of over Rs 500 crores.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 887.50,-3.86%), Cipla Ltd. (Rs. 556.55,-1.62%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 376.55,-1.09%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1186.80,-1.08%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 220.55,-1.03%), among others.

On the flip side, Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 247.40,+1.69%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 498.00,+1.49%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 162.25,+0.93%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2532.00,+0.76%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 630.00,+0.74%), were among top gainers on BSE.

On the sectoral front, IT and Teck emerged as top losers on BSE, falling as much as 1.22 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2601, shares advanced were 1181, while 1267 shares declined, and 153 were unchanged.
