The Indian benchmarks are set to open marginally higher on Friday amid mixed cues from Asian peers. Also, Wall Street ended higher in the previous trading session helped by strong US economic data, but uncertainty over US President Donald Trump's agenda kept an index of global equity markets near a three-week low. Shares of state-run HUDCO, which recently concluded its Rs 1,224 crore initial public offer, will make the stock market debut on May 19. On the corporate front, Abbott India, Bharat Bijlee, Camline Fine, Claris Lifesciences, Dhanuka Agritech, Future Enterprises, HT Media, Just Dial, Mahindra Holidays, MM Forging, Motherson Sumi, SBI, Sintex Industries, Suzlon, Titagarh Wagons, V-Guard Industries, VRL Logistics, and Zuari Agro will unveil their results for the quarter ended March 31 today. Positive trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for May delivery, which were trading at 9456.50, up by 22.50 points or 0.24 per cent, at 10:46 AM Singapore time, signaled a higher to flat opening for the domestic bourses.

On Thursday, the Indian equity benchmarks ended the session on a negative note, dragged by weak global cues as political turmoil in White House spooked investors. The market sentiment remained negative amid political tension in the United States after media report suggested that President Trump had tried to quash an FBI probe into his former national security adviser. The 30-share barometer SENSEX closed at 30434.79, down by 223.98 points or by 0.73 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 9429.45, down by 96.3 points or by 1.01 per cent. On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 225641 with a total turnover of Rs. 17479.53 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 827215 with a total turnover of Rs. 60696.24 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 8647197 with a total turnover of Rs. 737288.16 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 664995 with a total turnover of Rs. 49539.09 Crore.The FIIs on 18/05/2017 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 6310.87 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 2732.32 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 5147.89 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 680.47 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 1162.98 Crore and Rs. 2051.85
