The Indian benchmarks are set to open flat on Wednesday amid mixed cues from Asian peers. Also, Wall Street ended lower in the previous trading session as weakness in the energy and financial sectors outweighed gains in technology shares. On the economic front, the investors will eye the GDP numbers as the Government will unveil GDP figures for the quarter ended on May 31, Wednesday post market hours. Gross domestic product (GDP) had grown marginally lower, at 7 percent, in the third quarter of FY17, down from 7.4 percent in the second quarter. On the corporate front, Castrol India, Kothari Industries, NEPC India, Prima Agro, Sujala Trading, and Prima Industries will unveil their results for the quarter ended March 31 today. Muted trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for June delivery, which were trading at 9627.50, up by 7.50 points or 0.08 per cent, at 10:42 AM Singapore time, signaled a flat to marginally higher opening for the domestic bourses.
On Tuesday, the Indian equity benchmarks ended at fresh record closing high with benchmark index Sensex ending nearly 50.12 points higher, while NSE Nifty settled at 9,624.55-mark, as investors cheered the news of early arrival of monsoon and expectation of implementation of GST. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed trade at 31,159.4 up by 50.12 points or 0.16 per cent, while the NSE Nifty ended at 9,624.55 up by 19.65 points or 0.2 per cent. Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Hindalco Industries Ltd. 27444380.00, Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. 19391031.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 14157447.00, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. 10937265.00, Vedanta Ltd. 10511550.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 132.25 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 24189.46 Crore.
On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 139551 with a total turnover of Rs. 11167.84 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 695156 with a total turnover of Rs. 48149.68 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 3297236 with a total turnover of Rs. 282084.76 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 419565 with a total turnover of Rs. 30840.49 Crore. The FIIs on 30/05/2017 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 3952.28 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 612.80 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 4759.88 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 320.42 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -807.60 Crore and Rs. 292.38
