The Indian benchmarks are set to open lower on Monday amid muted cues from other global peers. Geopolitical tensions, along with Q4FY17 earnings, will continue weight its impact on the market sentiments this week. During the week, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) will declare its numbers on Tuesday.

The Asian markets have opened lower as investors focused on Korean Peninsula tensions and Chinese economic data due later in the morning, while the Wall Street closed lower in the previous trading session as investors weighed earnings reports from big US banks along with geopolitical tensions.

Muted trends in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for April delivery, which were trading at 9148.50, down by 7 points or 0.08 per cent, at 10:38 AM Singapore time, signalled a flat to lower opening for the domestic bourses.

On Thursday, the key domestic benchmark indices ended the holiday-truncated week on negative note after muted earnings report by IT bellwether Infosys raised concerns over the performance of IT companies. Infosys' revenue guidance and plan to distribute cash to shareholders fell short of expectations, raising concerns at the start of the March quarter earnings.

The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed at 29461.45, down by 182.03 points or by 0.61 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 9150.8, down by 52.65 points or by 0.357 per cent.

Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Hindalco Industries Ltd. 20027226.00, Infosys Ltd. 15486594.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 13798932.00, Bank of Baroda 12377238.00, State Bank of India 9944020.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 114.43 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 22325.98 Crore. On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 152550 with a total turnover of Rs. 11533.04 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 572635 with a total turnover of Rs. 42410.39 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 7376504 with a total turnover of Rs. 614386.50 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 485478 with a total turnover of Rs. 34839.10 Crore. The FIIs on 13/04/2017 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4120.24 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 2510.61 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 4615.84 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1088.38 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -495.60 Crore and Rs. 1422.23
