Amidst choppy trade, the Indian equities continued to trade lower with marginal losses in late morning deal on Wednesday, weighed down by selling across IT and bankex index, tracking weak cues from Asian peers. IT stocks were under pressure after TCS missed analysts estimates and reported slower-than-expected growth in its fourth quarter earnings at Rs 6,608 crore. Adding the woes, US President Donald Trump has ordered federal agencies to look at tightening the H1B visa programme. Tata Consultancy Services down nearly 1 per cent after the country’s largest software exporter missed analysts estimates and reported slower-than-expected growth of 4.2 per cent in its consolidated net profit at Rs 6,608 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2017, compared to Rs 6,340 crore during the same period a year ago.

At 12:20 hour, the Bombay Stock Exchange bellwether Sensex was trading at 29304.96, down by 14.14 points or by 0.05 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 9095.2, down by 9.95 points or by 0.11 per cent.

During the day’s trade so far, the BSE Sensex touched intra-day high of 29373.55 and intraday low of 29241.48, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 9120.5 and intraday low of 9079.5.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2287.45,-0.92%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 915.10,-0.79%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3201.45,-0.70%), State Bank of India (Rs. 288.20,-0.67%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 495.00,-0.60%), among others.

On the flip side, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 209.50,+3.53%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 164.90,+1.98%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 325.05,+1.67%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 282.00,+1.04%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1489.00,+0.62%), were among the top gainers on BSE.

On the sectoral front, IT and bankex index emerged as top losers, falling as much as 0.6 per cent and 0.45 per cent, respectively.

The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE out of total shares traded 2822, shares advanced were 1415 while 1246 shares declined and 161 were unchanged.
