The Indian benchmarks are set to open lower on Tuesday amid weak global cues from its Asian peers.
The Asian markets have opened mostly lower, while Wall Street closed mixed on Friday after US President Donald Trump suffered a legislative defeat last Friday when Republican leaders pulled a bill to overhaul the US health care system.
Muted trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for March delivery, which were trading at 9106.00, down by 5.50 points or 0.06 per cent, at 10:32 AM Singapore time, signalled a flat to lower opening for the domestic bourses.
On the corporate front, RIL will be in focus today as the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) banned Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) from accessing the equity derivatives market for a year, and directed the company to disgorge the profits made by violating the rules on unfair trade practices when it sold a stake in its erstwhile unit Reliance Petroleum Ltd (RPL).
On Friday, the Indian equity benchmarks ended higher led by banking stocks as investors turned optimistic after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley promised a solution to the growing NPA problem within next few days. The 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed trade at 29,421.4 up by 89.24 points or 0.3 per cent, while the NSE Nifty ended at 9,108 up by 21.7 points or 0.24 per cent.

The FIIs on 24/03/2017 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 5976.95 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 408.55 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 4880.08 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 946.11 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 1096.87 Crore and Rs. -537.56 crore.
