The Indian benchmarks are set to open higher on Tuesday as investors will cheer the ruling party’s scale of victory in Uttar Pradesh along with three other states, which gives it room for adding more representatives in the Upper House of the Parliament.
The BJP won state elections in four out of five states that went to polls. The results showed that the popularity of Prime Minister was still intact, a positive cue for the market, which would help in getting political capital going forward.
The Asian markets have opened mostly mixed with investors anticipating a near-certain rate hike from the Federal Reserve on Wednesday, while Wall Street remained off session lows as traders anticipated an interest rate hike on Wednesday.
Positive trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for March delivery, which were trading at 9203.00, up by 7 points or 0.08 per cent, at 10:56 AM Singapore time, signalled a positive opening for the domestic bourses.
On Friday, the Indian equity benchmark indices closed flat ahead of the key results to assembly elections. Investors had reacted positively to the exit polls in the morning session, but pared their gains through the day.
