Indian equities are set to open higher on Friday, tracking firm cues from fellow Asian peers after Wall Street ended in green in overnight trade, ahead of the industrial production and manufacturing output data later in the day. Bullish trend in the SGX Nifty Index Futures for February delivery, which were trading at 8,829.00, up by 28 points or 0.32 per cent, at 10:56 AM Singapore time, also signaled a positive opening for Sensex. The financial stocks will remain in focus today as index heavyweight State Bank of India and Bank of Baroda will announce their December quarter earnings report. Today is going to be the busiest day of the earnings season as over 450 companies will release their financial report which include big names such as, Berger Paints, GAIL, Hindustan Zinc, M&M, Tata Power, Reliance Capital and Sun TV.

On Thursday, the key domestic benchmarks ended tad higher amid choppy trade as strong buying across IT, Teck and auto space countered losses in metal and banking stocks. The fresh fund inflows by foreign portfolio investors also supported equity movement. Snapping two-day losses, the 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex closed at 28329.7, up by 39.78 points or by 0.14 per cent, and the NSE Nifty ended at 8778.4, up by 9.35 points or by 0.11 per cent.

Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty were State Bank of India 16080181.00, ICICI Bank Ltd. 15119258.00, Hindalco Industries Ltd. 13995996.00, Idea Cellular Ltd. 13644978.00, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. 12610813.00.

On NSE, total number of shares traded was 135.06 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 23431.97 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 300358 with a total turnover of Rs. 21814.17 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 642826 with a total turnover of Rs. 46001.46 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 10175835 with a total turnover of Rs. 788948.64 Crore and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 407949 with a total turnover of Rs. 30235.68 Crore.

As on February 09, 2017, the FIIs stood as net seller in both equity and debt segments. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4468.40 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1560.80 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 4656.66 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 2235.08 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -188.26 Crore and Rs. -674.28.
