The key domestic benchmark continued to witness lackluster trade in late morning deal on Tuesday with all the thirteen indices floating in negative terrain as investors resorted to profit booking in absence of any major trigger on domestic and global front. Traders keenly awaited the outcome of the state election results for more clarity on the government's capacity to revive stalled reforms. Outperforming the benchmark indices, the broader markets witnessed hefty selling with the MIDCAP trading down 0.66 per cent and the SMLCAP slipped 0.39 per cent.

At 12:16 hours, the 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex 28315.7, down by 35.92 points or by 0.13 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 8793.75, down by 11.3 points or by 0.13 per cent.

In the day’s trade so far, the BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 28386.68 and intraday low of 28263.45, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 8820.45 and intraday low of 8772.5.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3164.45,-1.92%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 847.10,-1.83%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 317.00,-1.23%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 484.35,-1.22%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2775.00,-1.12%), among others.

On the flip side, Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1047.80,+1.89%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 489.00,+1.62%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 194.75,+1.38%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 313.05,+1.25%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 283.70,+0.71%), were among top gainers on BSE.

On the sectoral front, all the thirteen indices were bleeding in red while metal and PSU stocks were leading the decline, falling as much as 1.55 per cent and 0.77 per cent respectively.

The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2780, shares advanced were 1034 while 1587 shares declined and 159 were unchanged.
