The key domestic benchmarks were trading flat with slightly positive bias, paring early gains, weighed down by losses in the IT and teck stocks after media reports suggested that the US Congressmen have reintroduced a bill to limit the use of H-1B visas, a move which would directly affect IT industry. However, appreciation in rupee and gain across bank and metal stocks gave a lift to market sentiment.

At 12:15 hours, the 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex was at 26887.55, up by 9.31 points or by 0.03 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 8272.3, down by 1.5 points or by 0.02 per cent.

In the day’s trade so far, the BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 27009.61 and intraday low of 26843.06, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 8306.85 and intraday low of 8259.4.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 205.55,+2.96%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3197.00,+1.94%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 447.00,+1.15%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 927.00,+1.15%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 423.60,+1.06%), among others.

On the flip side, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2280.80,-2.30%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 973.65,-2.28%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 472.45,-1.64%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 244.50,-0.81%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 5601.00,-0.61%), were among top losers on BSE.

On the sectoral front, bank and metal stocks emerging as top gainers, adding as much as 1.07 per cent and 0.94 per cent respectively.

The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was flat. On BSE out of total shares traded 2660, shares advanced were 1211 while 1288 shares declined and 161 were unchanged.
