The key domestic benchmarks were trading flat with slightly positive bias in choppy trade on Monday as gain across realty and FMCG space were offset by loss in power and oil gas indices. Among the individual stocks, BEML rallied over 19 per cent after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved strategic disinvestment of 26 per cent equity shares of Government of India in the company.
At 12:22 hours, the 30-share barometer index of Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex was 26769.27, up by 10.04 points or by 0.04 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 8246, up by 2.2 points or by 0.03 per cent.
In the day’s trade so far, the BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 26860.88 and intraday low of 26701.18, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 8263 and intraday low of 8227.75.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1083.35,+0.99%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 5668.00,+0.98%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 502.55,+0.95%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 244.90,+0.93%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2731.30,+0.85%), among others.
On the flip side, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 3076.00,-2.68%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 185.55,-1.70%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 199.85,-1.28%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1204.65,-1.27%), Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 301.90,-1.26%), were among top losers on BSE.
On the sectoral front, realty and FMCG stocks emerging as top gainers, adding as much as 0.96 per cent and 0.57 per cent respectively.
The market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was strong. On BSE out of total shares traded 2705, shares advanced were 1533 while 1060 shares declined and 112 were unchanged.
