Sensex, Nifty marginally lower on profit booking :19/10/2016 11:22

The key domestic benchmark indices were trading marginally in red during the late morning deals weighed down by profit taking in index heavyweights post the sharp gains in the previous session.
At 11:18 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 28002.35 down by 48.53 points or by 0.17 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 8666.25 down by 11.65 points or by 0.13 per cent.
In the choppy trade so-far, Sensex touched an intraday high of 28131.07 and an intraday low of 27976.73, while the NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 8698.75 and an intraday low of 8656.8.
However, losses remained capped with report that the GST Council on Tuesday headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley discussed a four-tier rate structure suggested by the Centre and agreed on compensation to loss-incurring states for the first five years of the new tax regime. Jaitley also informed that the GST Council meeting has reached a consensus on definition of revenue to compensate states for revenue loss from GST implementation.
The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 439.75,+2.40%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 492.40,+2.30%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 758.40,+1.94%), Lupin Ltd. (Rs. 1503.00,+1.43%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 538.35,+1.14%), among others.
The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 241.75,-1.65%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 266.70,-1.37%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1315.00,-1.27%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3379.75,-0.90%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 847.60,-0.81%), among others.
Among the sectors, In BSE, BSE Oil&Gas index was at 12270.44 up by 139.88 points or by 1.15%. GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 439.75,+2.40%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 853.30,+2.29%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 325.60,+1.53%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 445.00,+1.42%), Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 414.65,+1.37%),.
On the flip side, In BSE, BSE_FMCG index was at 8522.87 down by -52.2 points or by -0.61%. Godfrey Philips India Ltd. (Rs. 1484.00,-2.11%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 241.75,-1.65%), Indo National Ltd. (Rs. 991.05,-1.35%), EID Parry (India) Ltd. (Rs. 257.15,-1.04%), Kwality Ltd. (Rs. 151.55,-0.95%),. The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2526 , shares advanced were 1479 while 893 shares declined and 154 were unchanged.
On the global front, Asian peers were mostly trading in green amid speculation the Federal Reserve will stick to a gradual tightening of monetary policy and as investors awaiting key economic data from China.
